Project Marketplace for Donors Mission Statement
The mission of Project Marketplace for Donors is to create an efficient communication and cooperation tool for donor organizations in Ukraine in order to enable them to coordinate their grant-giving activities and establish funders' partnerships, as well as spread information on their initiatives and funding opportunities within the third sector. The scope of this initiative will promote transparency of grant-giving activities and effective use of limited donors' funds.
The need for larger coordination in the Ukrainian donor community became apparent as many ad hoc donor groups formed along areas of specialization in recent years. In October 2001 Project Marketplace for Donors database was launched by International Renaissance Foundation in order to enable input and review of data about projects received, supported or rejected by donors. As to date, more than
15 leading donor organization in Ukraine use Project Marketplace for Donors as the working tool for their information exchange and funding policy development. At the same time,
eight mailing lists were created, maintained and regularly updated.
Project Marketplace for Donors is jointly supported by
10 donor organizations and is a common donors' working resource under their joint liability.
Project Marketplace for Donors pursues this mission through several kinds of activities:
- organizing the exchange of information among donors and facilitating networks among them;
- providing useful and timely information pertaining to the operating environment for fruitful dialogue among donors and NGOs, which will improve the efficiency of third sector activities;
- making other services available for the organizational development of participating institutions in accordance with the overall mission;
- promoting minimal, mutually accepted standards in the practice of grantmaking and donor coordination.
